Hey guys,
Its been a while. I've been working hard on my web site, and a new super toony rig for my demo. Anyhow I did some hands at the gun range waiting for a lane to open up. The Cow is from a trip to Toronto, and the animal drawings are from today watching a PBS special.
Cheers,

Lesson 6: Advanced Heads

Link To Lesson:
http://www.animationarchive.org/2006/06/meta-100000-animation-drawing-course.html

Hey guys,
Here is my attempt at some katie rice heads. At first I didnt want to do this lesson, because I thought to my self " Well, She's breaking all the rules, that I am still trying to learn. It'd be worse for me to do this lesson, because I might pick up some bad habbits."

Then, I actually sat down and did them. I now understand what john was talking about. After figuring out how to use construction to copy a drawing that didnt really use any, I started to see the simple shapes that described soo much of the character. Not only that, but the way she uses straight lines vs. curving ones was enlightening enough. I'm in the process of working through her Mouth Tut and will post that also.

Thanks for taking a look.

Lesson 5: Line of Action.

UPDATE: 8-25-06

Hey all,
I have a few more drawings to post. I've had a break from animating rodents, and desided to draw some...and some cats too. I've been having the most fun drawing Jerry and it shows. The Tom's feel..... Subpar. I am improving so that's good. Anyhow, I'm still fighting the rust that been acumulating on my hands, but its been slow. When I get home, all I want to do is sleep. Anyhow C&C's are welcome. Enjoy.
andy

UPDATE: 08-08-06
Heres a new Jerry. We finnished up production on Avitar, and have started a new game for a Pixar license. Hooray. Anyhow, thanks for taking a look.
andy

Hey all,
It's been a while. We are wrapping up production of the Avitar game in a few days. We have about 6 days left before Gold, and theres about 2 weeks of stuff left to do :( Here are some sketches I did over the week end. The tom cat was a little rushed, ergo I fucked him up royaly. I did a much more thourough job on the Jerrys, but I'm still a little rusty. More to come for this lesson. Thanks for taking a look. C&C's are welcome.
andy

PS The student work is lloking great, guys. Much props to all. You bastards are so far ahead it makes my balls hurt. Jerks! ;)

Lesson 4: 2 legged Characters UPDATE 2

Update:6-23-06
The Jerry mouse is from an Ising cartoon, and one of the earlier models. I dont think it's as appealing as the H+B ones, but I thought it was such a great pose that I desided to draw it.

I goofed the legs on the chipmunk looking thing, because I just couldnt immagine how the shape was supposed to go. Anyhow Thanks for taking a look at it guys.
andy

Update:6-21-06
Hey guys its been a few weeks since I posted new pics. I've been super busy at work. I picked up some new animation tricks and have used what I've gathered from the PB Lessons, and they've helped me a ton. I discovered a trick that allows me ot spend more time tweaking the movement frame by frame to produce more appealing arcs and follow through. Anyhow, Here are some drawings I did last night. I'll try to do more today, but I have a ton of riggig to do for a super squash and stretch 3d character for the Strut Your Reel community. We are shooting for H+B style stuff like Tom and Jerry.
Anyhow C&c's are welcome.
andy

PS These are all paper drawings. I mostly use my tablet for 3d, now that I figured out how to use the stylus to maipulate the 3d camera.

Lesson 4: 2 Legged Characters, Full Body.

Update: 6-5-06
Hey all,
Here are a coupple of characters from the screwball page. I'm paying alot less attention to detail, because I'm going for volume over quality. I won't keep it up for long, because I just needed somehting to jumpstart my motivation, and usually volume of work does it for me. If you stare at a mountain of crap long enough, eventually you'll want to do something well. Anyhow, more to come tomorrow. I had a ton of work over the weekend so I didnt get to draw as much as I wanted. Though I did get through 12 Character cycles. Tonight looks more promising, though. C & C's welcome.
thanks,
andy

Update: 6-2-06
Attempt #3 at the rabbit. After a closer look I think I'm farther off than before. Damn it!
I'm going to move on to some of the other characters so I can take a break from drawing rabbits.
andy

PS I think I've been drawing too big. I keep running out of room.

Update: 6-1-06
Here is my second attempt at the reh-beht! Anyhow, I got a little closer in proportions, but I still messed up his Left eye. Thanks guys,
andy

Hey John, Stephen, and all;
Here are the first two drawings for lesson 4. The duck is way off model ( my construction was way off), and the rabbit's head is too small making him look like an early 20 year old, when he should look more adolescent. Any how I'm trying them in blue pencil first then add black line art with regular pencil (a method someone mentioned somewhere). So far I like it. C & C's welcome.
Thanks,
andy

Lesson 2: Squash And Stretch In The Head.

Hey All,
Ok, I spent the Memorial Day weekend watching Looney Tunes, and Tom and Jerry, while I was sipping on ice cold beer and doing the PB lessons. Here are my drawings for Lessoon 2. C &C's are welcome. I think I'm going to try a coupple more before I move to Lesson 4.
Thanks,
andy
